CAP's emergency services include air and ground search and rescue, disaster relief and civil defense for natural disasters. Our members fly approximately 85 percent of the search and rescue mission hours directed by the Air Force.
In order to provide willing and skilled cadets, Lewis County Composite Squadron conducts emergency services training and participates in mass training with other squadrons.
During these events, cadets are trained in fields that range from communications to ground team. Civil Air Patrol teaches, trains, qualifies, and uses cadets in emergency services.
During Memorial Day weekend 2013, several cadets and seniors traveled to a remote site in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest to practice basic ground team skills, including evidence line searches, team communication, locating clues, navigation and compass use, fire building and marching in full gear.
